revised the bed i was working on to better proportions, more like the original drawings, and trial and errored the headboard height for minimum height while still comfortable. added a center rail instead of a suspended support. but in doing so messed up the slat bearing--i think it will be beneficial to make the slats a connected system instead of individual pieces. the cuts are all a little too loose, i think im going to pack the joints with felt to make them tighter [in the mockup atleast] and dampen any creaking.

That's a damn fine looking dog.
I like the addition of the middle support, but have you thought about the possibility of varying the thickness of the plywood? It could be interesting if it were 1/2" one way, 3/4" the other way, and some hefty like 1-1/8" for the headboard. I guess you would need to calculate where the most force would come from based on your typical humpin' style.
The felt also seems like a good idea, then again, I like anything regarding felt.

typical style? marriage must be a boring monotonous bliss.

Make sure you compensate for uplift. And add some seismic clips. Thats anticipating an advanced user, but I'm sure you'll get there someday.

Jason-
You realize your wife reads this... and I am sure we can count on her for an accurate representation... if need be.
