For book club... I think this is something we all can relate to.

Description:
After a successful life in the drug game, twenty-one-year-old Kisa Kane plans to retire -- settle down, find a good man, and raise a family of her own. Done with the thug life, she has everything a ghetto girl would want: plenty of money, drop-dead-gorgeous looks, and two thriving legitimate businesses. Until she falls in love with Sincere Montega, a powerful drug dealer whose down-and-dirty money pulls Kisa back into the world she is trying so hard to leave behind. With lies, cheating, and conflict, Kai, their newborn, may be the only reason for this couple to stay together, but their lives are inevitably changed in the most unexpected way, the only way the streets of Harlem can.

Comments:
"This book had me glued to the pages I stayed up til wee hours of the morning reading this book. Kisa was off the hook. Im not gone lie that chick had made, sexy rich man, good friends, and a caring family. What more could any woman ask for. Danielle Santiago did her thing I can't wait to finish Grindin cuase this book is off the hook too."

"This book was awesome! Praise for D. Santiago...You go Diva...She put it down with this one... "

can it be unexpected if its inevitable? you could argue that the inevitable refers to 'a' change and that the specific change was unexpected. but that's weak.
also, did they mean, "changed...the way only the streets of Harlem can."?

That said, I'm down. Kisa does in fact sound 'off the hook'. Since I will soon be living in a big city, I need all the street smarts I can gather; whether they come from a book or the actual streets, I care not.

I felt an instant affinity, to be honest with you. As a woman in her twenties, also in a legitimate business, I too can imagine the tug of down-and-dirty money.

Perhaps if this one is as good as it sounds, "Grindin" could be our next read.

I saw the lady reading this on the metro too. I really wanted to go sit behind her so that I could read it over her shoulder.
I was able to read a few pages of "Road Dawgz" last week, and it was amazing.

I know I said that I didn't want to participate in a book club, but I thought you guys meant some sort of fancy book club. I am down with anything written by K'wan.
